Introduction:

At Oxford Medwell Academy, we are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all our employees, students, and visitors. We recognize that the health, safety, and welfare of our community is of paramount importance and is integral to the achievement of our educational objectives. We will comply with all relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice, and we will strive to continually improve our performance in health and safety matters.

Scope:

Our Health and Safety Policy applies to all employees, students, and visitors to Oxford Medwell Academy. Everyone has a responsibility to work safely and to take care of themselves and others who may be affected by their work activities. All employees have a duty to report any unsafe conditions or practices and to cooperate with management in ensuring a safe and healthy workplace. All students and visitors are expected to comply with our health and safety rules and to report any hazards or incidents they encounter.

Policy Statement:

  1. Risk Assessment and Control Measures:

We will identify hazards and assess the risks associated with our activities. We will take appropriate action to eliminate or control those risks where it is reasonably practicable to do so. We will also provide information, instruction, and training to employees, students, and visitors on the risks associated with their activities and how to control those risks..

  1. Training and Supervision:

All employees, students, and visitors will receive adequate training, instruction, and supervision to ensure that they understand the hazards and risks associated with their activities and can work safely.

  1. Equipment and Machinery:

All equipment and machinery used by employees, students, and visitors will be inspected, maintained, and repaired to ensure that it is safe to use. Only authorized personnel will operate the equipment and machinery.

  1. First Aid and Emergency Procedures:

Oxford Medwell Academy will provide adequate and appropriate first aid equipment, facilities, and trained personnel to respond to emergencies. Emergency procedures, including evacuation plans, will be in place and tested regularly. We will prepare and maintain emergency plans to deal with any foreseeable emergency situation. We will ensure that these plans are tested regularly, and that all employees, students, and visitors know what to do in an emergency.

  1. Reporting and Investigation of Accidents and Incidents:

All accidents and incidents will be reported promptly, and an investigation will be conducted to determine the root cause and implement measures to prevent a recurrence. We will also report certain accidents and incidents to the appropriate regulatory authorities, as required by law.

  1. Welfare Facilities:

Oxford Medwell Academy will provide adequate welfare facilities, including rest areas, washrooms, and drinking water, to promote the health and wellbeing of employees, students, and visitors.

  1. Health and Safety Committee:

Oxford Medwell Academy will establish a Health and Safety Committee to review and monitor the effectiveness of this policy and ensure compliance with UK law. The committee will comprise of representatives from management, employees, and students.

  1. Review:

This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure that it remains relevant, effective, and compliant with UK law.
